Tribes - We Were Children

Camden four piece Tribes are the kind of super-hip act that trip off the lips of trendsetters with oh so much ease. Even the simplicity of their name afford a kind of indie mystique to them, a promise that it is this band, this collection of artfully formed tunes, that will soundtrack your year.

Having previously released taster single Sappho to strong airplay from the likes of Zane Lowe and XFM, by the end of 2011 the amount of blogosphere hype surrounding the band was reaching genuinely palpable proportions. Seeing in the New Year with the release of We Were Children (previously brought out as an EP in April last year)

We Were Children marks a strong push forward for the band, a weighty medley of guitar that benefits from being given proper room to breathe. Unlike so many up-and-comers' early efforts, it doesn't feel rushed or like a hasty pasting together of the best moments of their album. No, We Were Children is first and foremost a song in itself, and one that stands proud with its individuality. Simply good, honest rock.

The band's debut album Baby is released on the 16th January and can be pre-ordered from HMV here.
