[Official Video] The Bullitts - Supercool
The Bullitts' Jeymes Samuel is pretty much one of the coolest people in music right now. He just is. Watching the quasi-viral official video for their debut single Supercool, there's an immediately apparent charm and quirk to it all that could only come from the kind of guy who manages to get Idris Elba on his album.
With Samuel's hilarious protestations to 'Keep filming, keep filming!', there's a deliriously attention-grabbing vibe to the London-based antics that unfold to the backing of the electro-pop grooves of the track itself. It's bonkers, brilliant, British and just like the shopping trolley that Samuel's tramp character pushes round, contains a bit of just about everything. Supercool - the kitchen sink analogy pushed to all new levels.
Critics have already made comparisons between concept of The Bullitts and their aesthetic to Gorillaz, but in truth, Supercool represents an even more simple distillation of the alter-ego TrendyPop ideal. It's a nugget of pop fun at a refreshing level of pureness, an almost cartoonish thrill-ride of ingenuity and cocked-eyebrow wit.
If it's good enough for Rosario Dawson, it's good enough for us.
Supercool is released on the 4th March.
