Patience I will learn, before this fire burns...

Today's big news - the original incarnation of the Sugababes are getting back together to record new material. It's a scary thought that there might be some people out there who never experienced the magic of the Siobhan, Mutya, Keisha holy trinity first time round - to them, the glossy Boots advert 'Girls' Sugababes might be the only version they've ever known.

But looking back at the almost sepia-toned halcyon glow of Sugababes 1.0 tracks, you're struck not just by the simple beauty of tracks like Soul Sound (which I've posted below) but how the group were at the forefront of ushering in a new wave of 'serious' pop that could be taken seriously but still thoroughly enjoyed. Without them, the world would have been a far blander place, and our only hope is that any new material really measures up to the gem that is the One Touch album.
