Rizzle Kicks - Traveller's Chant
Rizzle Kicks make an excellent case in point for the fact there should be more duos in pop music. For starters, they managed to make Olly Murs sound cool on Heart Skips A Beat. There's something about them that captures the perfect balance between frothy teen pop and the hint of something more edgy.
In addition to the Olly collab, they already have three Top 10 hits to their name, and in the joyous bounce of tracks like When I Was A Youngster, they hit their stride with a boyish slap of 90s jukebox playfulness.
New single Traveller's Chant pushes the sounds of the past even more stridently - the mellow, street-wise raps recall The Streets at their more pensive while the funky guitar sample plugs staunchly away beneath a roll of hiss and vinyl crackle.
Rizzle Kick's success stems from a keen awareness of what works on radio, and Traveller's Chant - despite being the fifth single lifted from the album - still feels effortlessly at home on the airwaves. The duo's tunes are resolutely tunes to be heard, to be listened to; so while Traveller's Chant lacks the outright pizzaz of horn-riffing Down With The Trumpets, it remains just as engaging.
Traveller's Chant is released on the 12th March.
