The Special Ks - Crystal Fields
If you're a fan of uber-trendy synth purveyors like Friendly Fires and Fenech Soler, there's a new group just around the corner that could very well be right up your alley. Brighton four piece The Special Ks might share a name with a brand of cheery breakfast cereal, but their music is a moody, synth-laced affair - real exciting electro-pop stuff.
Think big uplifting main-room club stuff, but twinned with vocals and lyrics of genuine heart. This is a far more clever kind of music, knowledgeable of its own intentions and where it can go next. The band have already supported Fenech Soler and Metronomy; if you're a fan of those bands, The Special Ks make for a logical next step if your craving more music of a similar ilk.
Their current single Crystal Fields is dreamy wonderfulness while BOA goes for a more experimental Klaxons-esque angle, throwing New Wave guitars into the mix - we like it a lot!
Crystal Fields is released on the 7th November.
