Marlon Roudette - Riding Home
If ever there was a time to reinvent yourself, it's now. With the lonestar singer-songwriter something of the flavour of the moment, former Mattafix lad Marlon Roudette has gone solo with an impressive debut single: Riding Solo.
Roudette delivers a world-wise rap and soulful chorus over a low-slung, melancholic synth backdrop - it's a soundscape hung between the spires, glass and steel of the 21st century city, a cry for affection amidst a lonely world.
Sliding in alongside the likes of Ed Sheeran and Maverick Sabre, Roudette definitely has the gravity to stake his own claim amidst the up and coming new breed of urban inflected singer-songwriters. Looking to the bleak, gritty sounds of the early 90s, Riding Home speaks with a grim, but resolute message. A sobering moment from a definite future talent.
The Riding Home EP is available to download on iTunes now, with the album Matter Fixed to follow next year.
