Lyracis - Speakerphone

For an unsigned act, airplay on the likes of 1Xtra and Kiss FM is an impressive feat. It's the gateway to greater things, the first rungs on the slippery ladder of fame and fortune. And for up and coming rapper Lyracis, it's a hot-wired start-up backed with a genuinely great track.

Speakerphone is a powerful slice of contemporary UK rap, definitively radio-friendly, but with real bite to it. It's got edge, passion, and most importantly a big massive hook to hang its successes on too. Pairing techy synth gloss with rough-edged nu-metal style wedges of guitar, Speakerphone is like Tinie Tempah on acid; a raw, formidable mass of speaker-trembling noise.

In the running for MTV's Brand New Unsigned for 2012 acts, Lyracis more than packs the potential to make it big. Not only does Speakerphone sound like a hit, but it sounds like the beginnings of many hits - this is no one-hit-wonder man, rather the bright-minded individualism of a rap artist eager to cut out his own place in a crowded market.

Speakerphone is due for an early 2012 release.
