We're generally rather cynical about Valentine's Day (ok, make that very cynical), but when it serves as the inspiration for a free download, we'll usually be tempted. And in the case of Chicago group Super Happy Fun Club, we're more than happy to partake in precisely that. I mean, with a name as cheery as that, how could you not?
The track in question, Way Back (The Conflict), is a hefty dollop of perky power-pop stuff, big piano chords and an even bigger chorus. It's the kind of hearty fare that American living is built on, larger than life, an up-and-at-em! anthem of super-size proportions.
Plus, it puts a smile on our face - and anything that does that is good by us.
