Labrinth - Last Time
It goes without saying that Labrinth's debut LP Electronic Earth is going to be massive when it hits shops on the 19th of March. The real man of the moment right now, the Tinie Tempah collaborator looks set to replicate the success of his pal's Disc-Overy and hold the banner high for British urban music this year.
You need only have looked to the stunning New Year's London firework display to see what a behemoth of a song previous single Earthquake has become - with its clubland shattering fusion of explosive electronics and clever, ingenuitive raps, it was cut out for mass commercial success from the start. And therein lies the heart of Labrinth's talent, absolutely nailing those smash hits.
For his next serving, Last Time, Labrinth turns the synth-popometer up to max and fire a volley of J-Pop accentented thrills. Oriential string sections and robo-vocoder work-outs, Last Time is hedonistic, exhilarating and comes replete with the profound sense of both style and fun the star has already marked out as his own.
