Nominated as part of the BBC Sound of 2011, Spector, like their fellow newcomers The Vaccines, are the sort of band that seem to clamour, banner aloft, for the return of guitar rock to the forefront of the charts – and actually make it sound like an attractive prospect. Chevy Thunder is the kind of pop nugget that backs up such vague accolades as the above, and more importantly, it has a real bulk and substance to it – the kind that so many of Spector’s contemporaries so often simply lack. It’s big, bold, brazen and in its 50s riffing licks, sidles up nicely to the likes of Howler too.
The band’s debut album is set for a 30th April release.
