When Pixie's good, she's really good...

One of my favourite things about pop music is that sometimes, it can just completely defy all expectations and out of the blue give you something completely wonderful.

In this instance, it's the lovely piano ballad acoustic version of Pixie Lott's All About Tonight. It's a little like those old 'Candlelight' mixes they did of those DJ Sammy songs and having listened to this version quite a lot this week, I've decided I definitely prefer it to the original version.

In this format, the song has infinitely more class and actually shows how good Pixie's vocals can be when she really goes for it. You forget what a soulful voice she actually has.

And speaking of great Pixie moments, while I was in the midst of a Cathy Dennis session on my iTunes, this absolute gem cropped up - Doing Fine (Without You).

Co-written by Cathy and Pixie for the star's debut album, it's a wonder of dance-pop brilliance; easily deserving of being a single.

You can download the acoustic version of All About Tonight from iTunes here.
