(Video) Jessie J - Nobody's Perfect
You've got to appreciate the way pop videos debut these days, subtly creeping out of the TV channels via home footage, hastily recorded on someone's phone. So while it means we have to wait a bit longer to see Jessie J's brilliant new video for Nobody's Perfect in all its full glory, it also means we get a cheeky look at it right now.
I love the whole intense thing Jessie does here, looking straight at the camera for so much of the video. It worked really well in the Price Tag video and she plays to her strengths again here, injecting her presence into the song.
Indeed, Nobody's Perfect is arguably stronger than her past two singles; perhaps not quite as obviously so in a radio friendly sense, but for me, it holds more power, more strength. The video really seems to convey this too, playing up all that striking imagery, as found in Price Tag's best moments; the puppet scenes.
The whole video is set in a big, old fashioned The Shining style hotel; all very Gothic and atmospheric. The real strength of it is the way it conveys the intensity and sheer force of personality that makes Jessie the star she is. In the past few weeks we've really seen her coming into her own; you can see it in her interviews, feel it in her performances. You need only look at the number of followers she has on twitter and the amount of column inches generated by her at the moment to see how in awe of Jessie everyone is. And the Nobody's Perfect video is the next logical step in that evolution.
(Yay! The High Quality proper version is now out, have a look below:
