Video: Britney Spears - Till The World Ends

The whole post-apocalyptic 'thing' is very much all the rage these days. Everyone seems to be doing it, from film to TV and music videos. And part of the reason it's so popular is because it's so iconic, which also makes it easy to do. All the hallmarks are already set up, you just need to go through with a list checking them off.

So when Britney turns to that kind of imagery for her new video, to a degree, it doesn't bring us anything new or groundbreaking. But equally, it still works so well. If it ain't broke, don't fix it? That saying is there for a reason. It's nice that it ties in with the title of the track (although we never actually see the world ending in the video... plus the fact Britney's singing more about dancing in the track than a literal 'ending' of the world) - but let's remind ourselves what we're actually all here for, Britney herself.

And boy does she look good! During the Blackout and Circus album campaigns, we were never quite sure if the glossy image she presented in the videos was her hastily putting on a respectable facade while the rest of her life remained chaotic. But now, it's fair to say that the old Britney, the 'proper' popstar that we all fell in love with, is well and truly back. She looks amazing, the dance moves are bang on, and the whole video just has the air of fun about it.

For the ultimate party track, this is the video that re-affirms that party vibe in Britney herself. And if she looks like she's having fun, then so are we. In many ways, Britney represents a mirror of society itself. I think at times, we all see elements of ourselves in her. As the culmination of everything that it means to be a popstar - a person even - in the 21st century, Till The World Ends is the epitome of that 'live life to its full' ethos.
