The Saturdays - Turn Myself In [Studio Version Preview]

The other day we listened back to the live version of Turn Myself In from the Headlines tour and were struck at just how good a song it was. At the time of the tour, it had felt like little more than a cute live curio, a little bonus for the fans to fill out the set and offer a taste of what the next album might hold. Of course, as things turned out, said new album (On Your Radar) went for a direction far removed from the moody, rock-centric Turn Myself In, and you can kind of understand why the song was left off the record.

Praise must be given then to the girls for finally giving the song the proper release it deserves, the studio version serving as b-side to their excellent 30 Days. As far as fan incentive b-sides go, this is up there with the Nicola solo version of Memory of You on her Yo-Yo single, which we absolutely loved.

The studio version, interestingly, goes for a harder, crunchier vibe than the live take - the beats pack a real bite to them and the vocals have a smattering of vocoder laced all over them. The result is a haunting, introspective track that offers a fascinating look at what On Your Radar might have been like if the girls hadn't gone wholeheartedly down the dance route.

Keane - Silenced By The Night

Keane - even in 30 second teaser clip form, they deliver. This snippet of new single Silenced By The Night might not be much, but it offers a glimmer of long awaited new material, a hint of the direction the band will be taking for their eagerly anticipated new album.

On first impressions, it feels like a firm reassertion of the Perfect Symmetry sound - so close in fact that it sounds like it could be off said album. Eschewing the beat-inflected flavours of the night train EP, it's good to see Keane heading back towards the territory they do best; big solid piano tunes. The debt to the 80s again rears its head here too, with the Ashes to Ashes era Bowie vibe coming across strongly as it did with the Perfect Symmetry singles.

All very promising signs, and we eaglery anticipate more!

[Preview] Oh My! - Bad Date

We're all in flutter with Oh My! at the moment because yesterday they delivered their ace cover of Christmas Wrapping, and if that wasn't already enough pop to keep you in good spirits over the festive period, now they've teased their new track Bad Date with this 30 second preview.

Bad Date sounds every bit as fun, flirty and feisty as Dirty Dancer was, but with added rave-factor. Is there any more fitting kiss-off to an ex-lover than 'I can't believe I went out with a dud'? Amazing.

The full track debuts on the 26th December - enough to liven up every Boxing Day we reckon!

Parade preview new album track 'Weatherman'

It's one of our favourites from Parade's debut album - Weatherman!

Hard-core Parade fans will have heard the track performed acoustically at exclusive events like the Clean & Clear show in Hoxton, but the full studio version sees the track taking a decidedly R&B tilt.

What we love most about it though are the reedy 80s synths, and if you listen especially carefully, you'll even be able to hear actual raindrops. On the scale of song name/sound effects meta-relationships, this ranks pretty high for us.

Parade premiere new album track 'Shoes'!

Parade's self-titled LP is one of our most eagerly awaited records of 2011 and the girls have treated us to a preview clip of one of the tracks - Shoes!

What's more, remember the super-cool animated video for the Parade album mini-mix earlier this year? Well they've done another one for Shoes, featuring, appropriately enough... lots of shoes!

Shoes goes for a smooth R&B vibe in line with Parade's hit single Perfume, we think it's great!

Oh My! - Dirty Dancer [Preview]

There's one pop chorus we can absolutely 100% guarantee will be stuck in your heard all the way till the end of the 2011, and that's Oh My's first official single release - Dirty Dancer!

With its nod to Patrick Swayze, bratty vocals and an absolutely cracking beat, we're tipping this feisty twosome for big things. Of all the new pop acts launching this year, none of them have set the blogosphere and Twitter alight quite as much as Oh My! Everyone loves them!

Dirty Dancer is released on the 7th November and the video - which the girls have filmed already - is coming your way very soon!
