[Lyric Video] Oh My! - Bad Date

It's only the first day of 2012, and while everyone else is nursing hangovers, we're busy dancing away to the new one from Oh My! - it's fair to say we can call it our first pop favourite of the New Year!

A lot has been made of the girls' links with Example, and if anything, Bad Date is their most Example-esque track so far. Boasting a pounding dance backing, a big pre-drop whoooosh and the duo's most feisty GirlPower! rap to date, it's a frothy milkshake-spiked-with-vodka assault on the senses and absolute pop gem.

Come the middle-eight, Alex and Jade reel off a few cheeky words of advice to lads everywhere:

'A tip for the boys, when they ask out a girl, know that talking is cheap in a material world.'

It's a confident cocktail that firmly puts the guys on the back foot - in 2011, Example turned dancefloors and student unions across the country into energised masses of moving bodies with the likes of Changed The Way You Kiss Me. 2012, it's the girls' turn, and Oh My! certainly aren't holding back.

We're all in flutter with Oh My! at the moment because yesterday they delivered their ace cover of Christmas Wrapping, and if that wasn't already enough pop to keep you in good spirits over the festive period, now they've teased their new track Bad Date with this 30 second preview.

Bad Date sounds every bit as fun, flirty and feisty as Dirty Dancer was, but with added rave-factor. Is there any more fitting kiss-off to an ex-lover than 'I can't believe I went out with a dud'? Amazing.

The full track debuts on the 26th December - enough to liven up every Boxing Day we reckon!

Oh My! cover Christmas Wrapping!

We totally love Oh My! and we love Christmas songs too (who doesn't!?) - so when it came to the girls choosing a Xmas hit to cover, it could only be Christmas Wrapping. After all, the gutsy female feistyness of the original translates perfectly to what the Oh My! girls are all about.

With a hilarious Netto reference, this ranks right up with the girls' ace cover of the Saturdays' Higher - we're just wondering what track the girls will rework next to make it a hat-trick?

Oh My! cover The Saturdays' Higher!

When awesome new pop duo Oh My! meet modern day pop classic Higher, you know you're in for a treat. Here the feisty twosome girls tackle The Saturdays hit single with suitably rave-tastic results - imagine the song propelled through a Super Mario 8-bit sound card and you'll have a pretty good idea of what to expect.

With their flirty, uber-trendy pop credentials, Oh My! have already taken the blogosphere by storm, and this cover makes for a fitting celebration of the girls' opening night supporting The Saturdays on tour.

Oh My! - Dirty Dancer (Alvin Risk Remix)

Love Oh My? Love their track Dirty Dancer? Love hot as hell remixes? You're going to adore the Alvin Risk remix of the track then.

Packing a positively filthy bassline, the track sounds even cooler, even more fantastically bonkers - if that's at all possible.

Our favourite bits are the bleep-out moments, as if the original was full of expletives (which it isn't, but imagine if it was!)

When do you get when you combine everyone's favourite flirty new pop duo with one of the best remixers out there? Yup, that's right - it's the rave-tastic Unicorn Kid mix of Oh My!'s Dirty Dancer.

If you've never heard a Unicorn Kid mix before, basically imagine a game of 8-bit Super Mario kicking off at your local night-club. Bleepy synths ahoy as the Oh My! girls' vocals are stretched and cut and pasted all over the place, transforming their gritty, feisty anthem into a tropical-sounding bit of bonkers dance-pop awesomeness.

We love it.

It's basically one of the best pop videos we've seen all year, actually, make that the last two years. Yup, it's Oh My! bursting onto the scene with their first official single release - Dirty Dancer.

In a masterclass of that old adage 'simplicity works best', the Oh My! girls Alex and Jade give us three minutes of the street-smart attitude that we love them so much for.

Bright, colourful, and packing a blinder of a dance routine, it's pretty much everything we want in a music video.

Dirty Dancer is released on the 7th November.

There's one pop chorus we can absolutely 100% guarantee will be stuck in your heard all the way till the end of the 2011, and that's Oh My's first official single release - Dirty Dancer!

With its nod to Patrick Swayze, bratty vocals and an absolutely cracking beat, we're tipping this feisty twosome for big things. Of all the new pop acts launching this year, none of them have set the blogosphere and Twitter alight quite as much as Oh My! Everyone loves them!

Dirty Dancer is released on the 7th November and the video - which the girls have filmed already - is coming your way very soon!

Oh My! & Britt Love - Live at The Hoxton Pony, 21st July 2011

All the trendy people come out to play in Hoxton. Whether it's the snazzy-dressed indie types eagerly drinking away Daddy's money or the smart bankers letting loose after a long day in the City, three things fuel this little corner of London - money, booze and good times.

And tonight was all about the good times. In the packed basement level of the Hoxton Pony, something exciting was happening.

Oh My! are a delightful duo, consisting of Alex and Jade, still buzzing with the youthful energy of their teen years. Their punky, angular synth-pop is ready made for club settings like this, their witty rapped dialogues the perfect accompaniment to a good spot of partying. You couldn't get more London if you tried.

Whistling through four or five songs, the Oh My! girls whipped the crowd up into a frenzy with their super-catchy tunes, including Example-penned Kicking & Screaming, which can be downloaded for free from their website.

Up next was the ever-charming Britt Love - now, I've been keeping an eye on Britt since her days as one half of the amazing Mini Viva, and I can safely say that her new solo material is just as gloriously brilliant.

Full of fire and feistyness, her set was a storming showcase of hi-energy electro-disco; one particular highlight saw Britt sampling both Kylie's Speakerphone and ABBA's Gimme Gimme Gimme in a blistering shot of Pure Pop Awesome.

Much has been said about how now is the time for the British female - well, Oh My! and Britt Love certainly subscribe to that theory - keep an eye and an ear out for them, you definitely don't want to miss pop this exciting.
