The Saturdays - The Celestial Princesses photoshoot

Two of our biggest passions are pop and sci-fi/fantasy, so when the two combine with brilliant ingenuity, we get pretty excited. Whether it be Cheryl Cole dressing up as Seven-of-Nine in X Factor press shots, Kylie appearing in Doctor Who or Madonna taking a styling lesson from the lands of Skyrim, we love it all.

So imagine how bowled over we were by this dreamy Saturdays photoshoot from their All Fired Up tour programme - we're going to dub it the 'Celestial Princesses' photoshoot. What with its wintery theme, it all fits very nicely with the Icelandic setting of the My Heart Takes Over video too. Because we like to let our mind run away with itself, we started musing about the photoshoot and the song and something began to crystallise within our consciousness. Play the track with this image in mind, and think of another time, another place, where all this is the beginnings of some Final Fantasy-esque epic of unparallelled levels of amazing.

Across the foreign oceans and the shores of black volcanic silt, up along the sharp craggy peaks and down through the valleys to a distant tower looking out on the realm arrayed at their feet - these five princesses hold a kingdom in the palm of their hands. Therein lies a song, of ancient orgins, passed down their royal lineage back through the hazy generations to the dawn of all creation...

Are you really walking away from this?
Can you really break this love?
Tell me, do you know - when is your heart in need?
If you leave, then leave
Make up your mind before you shut the door

Going back in time,
You know we have tried, too hard to let this fade
Almost disappeared, still we made it here
Look me in the eye, promise I won't cry
This is your choice to make
If you go, then go
You change your mind, I won't be here no more

If there's a chance
We might've missed
If there's a ray of light in this
If there's a small piece left of us
Somewhere in the battles we have lost
Look at me - this is where my heart takes over...

One to watch... Leigh Learmont

In the stormy, ever-changing waters of the music industry, it's fair to say that girl-band Wonderland were culled before their time. With a Top 10 album under their belt and numerous TV appearances, the decision to let the band go by their record label seemed very hasty, putting a short, sharp end to what seemed the promising beginnings of a bright new pop hope.

The industry is littered with the remains of dissolved groups and the varying successes of their members. Just ask S Club 7. In terms of Wonderland, it seems more prevalent than ever to keep tabs on what the five girls get up to - after all, it's easy to forget that this wasn't just a band putting out music, it was five people, five careers. In this increasingly corporate world, it's important to remember the human element.

One member of the group in particular has already shown she's keen not to rest on her laurels. The super-gorgeous Leigh Learmont has already signed up with Assets modelling agency, putting out a breathtakingly stunning shoot of racy pics - talk about taking phwoar to whole new levels...

She's also apparently in talks with Irish TV Channel TG4. The popstar-turned-TV-star is a path oft-trodden, but one that quite often results in refreshing success stories. The re-invigorating career change we all contemplate at times, so to speak.

Speaking to Irish paper the Herald, Leigh said "I'm having some me time at the moment," and going by how hectic and stressful the Wonderland split must have been, we don't blame her.

In their prime, Wonderland were nominated as Best Band and Breakthrough Artist at the Glamour Women of the Year and BT Digital Music Awards respectively. Who knows, in a few years' time, Leigh might just be nabbing some high profile awards of her own. Definitely one to keep an eye on.

Get excited! It's the official 2012 Cheryl Cole calendar - coming soon!

Buying a new calendar of wonderfully glossy, gorgeous photos has become something of a yearly ritual for Girls Aloud fans.

And although in recent years, the band's own calendars have been replaced by solo Cheryl ones, it still feels like an event to get excited about.

That slow drip-feed of increasingly less pixelated images as the promo shots come out in better and better quality... And then getting the actual thing in the post from Amazon and the like... (what must the post-man think handing over that massive slab of A3 cardboard?!)

It's all part of being a fan, and like every other aspect of fandom, it just feels so right.

Just take a look at the cover shot from the 2012 Cheryl calendar above - absolutely stunning. I think this might even rank up there as my favourite Cheryl calendar shot ever - it's that good.

The new Cheryl calendar is available from the 1st September and can be pre-ordered from Amazon here.

Some very nice video stills from Leona's Collide...

What with all the attention afforded to the rather unsavory dispute between Leona Lewis and Avicii over 'that' sample, it's easy to forget just how good a track Collide actually is.

The more you hear it, the more it grows on you, just as the track itself builds and builds within itself to a jaw-dropping crescendo.

Listening to it on some flash speakers or headphones, you can really appreciate that thundering bassline in all its majesty - and above it, that piano riff soaring and crashing like waves breaking on a distant beach... which leads us nicely on to the first of these gorgeous stills from the track's upcoming video:

Stunning! The full video premieres later this week - we can't wait! As many others have commented, Collide is kind of what you imagine Coldplay would come out with if they 'went all dancey' - and this is a very good thing indeed.

What's more, Leona has always been in possession of a truly peerless vocal, but on Collide - removed from the epic balladry of her first and second albums - you appreciate new subtleties, new textures to it.

Here's another shot - Leona looking very hot as she takes a ride in a sporty classic car. Nice!

Who's that hottie over there?! Kimberley Walsh is the new face of Right Guard for Women

“I have a really hectic schedule and need to make sure that I stay fresh and dry – however long my day might be!” says the ever delightful Kimba, looking immaculately stunning and sexy in a new photoshoot to accompany the good news. Miss Walsh will be fronting up the Right Guard for Women brand of deodorant, helping women all across the UK battle the horrors of BO.

Properly amazing.

We imagine Kimberley running around spraying the stuff left, right and centre - superwoman style.

And all this while she's also starring in the movie version of the Horrid Henry books!

L’Oreal Elnett celebrates 50th anniversary with a gorgeous new Cheryl photoshoot!

WOW! It's fair to say that nation's sweetheart Cheryl Cole already has a heap of breathtakingly beautiful photoshoots under her belt, but this new shoot to celebrate the 50th anniversary of L'Oreal's Elnett hairspray (you know, the one you see in every Boots store in a pink bottle with Cheryl's face on it).

This picture really works to all of Cheryl's best assets, her eyes radiate warmth and those chocolaty brown waves of hair frame everything perfectly. Perfection.

Unzip This Way... Gaga is NME's cover star

Lady Gaga on the cover of NME. Not the most obvious star for them to go with, perhaps, but with a photoshoot like this, it'll be certain to stand out on the magazine shelves. Now, I'm not usually the biggest fan of Lady Gaga's outfits, but some are simply so bonkers they transcend into amazingness. Take meat dress or Kermit suit; completely and utterly impractical, but they get the nation talking. And the see-through zipped catsuit she dons for the NME cover looks set to do the same.

Definitely not something you'd want to wear with the weather as hot as it is at the moment, but Gaga certainly seems to be 'enjoying' herself in regards to the artfully placed zips...

In the accompanying interview, Lady Gaga targets those calling her manufactured, saying they can 'fuck off'. Quite right too. In the comments section below NME's online feature about the cover, as you might expect, there's already a heap of knee-jerk criticism of her comments from die-hard 'indie' boys. It's a rather dispiriting experience glancing through their closed-minded views on pop but it highlights yet again how controversial Lady Gaga is as a popular figure. Major props to NME for putting her on the cover anyway, it's a brilliant photoshoot and a fitting tribute to one of the most iconic stars of our generation.

Kimba's 'wet and sexy' photoshoot...

Girls Aloud's lovable Kimberley Walsh has been writing in her brilliant weekly OK Magazine column about a new photoshoot she's been involved with.

"I had to do a shoot last week in which they were going for a wet and sexy look, but the reality was I spent all day in a studio with some poor fella standing on a ladder chucking buckets of water over me!"

We can't wait to see the finished pictures! Going by the high standard of previous photoshoots such as the official Girls Aloud calendars, they should be super-hot.

There'll certainly be a lot of very happy Kimberley fans out there the day the pictures are unveiled.

Cher Lloyd, you're looking pretty awesome there...

Cher Lloyd always had that distinct essence of cool distilled down to a T. But with her radical new hairstyle unveiled in a photoshoot for Wonderland magazine, she takes it to a whole new level.

It's here that we finally see her casting off the vestiges of the X Factor and blossoming into the beginnings of a complete artist. With her album lined up for an August release, things are all getting rather exciting very quickly indeed.

Going with a more pale make-up and a more vivid shade of red, it's a striking look young Miss Lloyd has gone for in the photos, but it really works. It's very English rose, all dainty styling and precision. She's showing she's more than just the X Factor rapper with a fair bit to say, here she's making her first footsteps into what could potentially be a highly successful career. With Cher, a singer that has so far been all about image, it's these very images that highlight how there is so much more for her to give.

In some of the pictures there's even a kind of transmutation between old and new. There's the hyper-modern cyber-punk hairstyle contrasted with Victorian-esque white blouses. But then again, you get the impression that's the kind of artist Cher wants to be - one who is aware of the best elements of the past, and is able to channel them into her own personality and image.

In a recent interview, she spoke a little about how she feels; 'Well, I’m just a normal 17-year-old girl and I do have major feelings.' It's an almost shocking reminder of how young Cher really is. In this age of Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus, young popstars are ten-a-penny, but somehow Cher's youth is more tangible. She's raw, untamed. Throughout X Factor you got the sense she was on the verge of either cheering from sheer joy or breaking down into floods of tears. She wore her emotions close to the surface and it served as a softening touch to a young lady who injected her performances with such fire and passion.

'Sometimes things that people say do really affect me, whether it’s about the way I look, or the way that I’m acting. It can get me really stressed out,' she continued. 'And it’s like, give me a little break. A week of somebody being nice to me would be lovely.'

That really made me thing. Bless her. The internet has been rife with hate for Cher; but then, attractive female popstars always attract comments like that. It's inevitable. But to see it cut so close to the bone with Cher, to see her admit to it messing with her head, it again humanises her immensely. Stress is something we all deal with daily, it comes in a seemingly endless stream of shapes and forms; and for Cher, this is her stress. Will she be able to deal with it? I have no doubt she will. And this new photoshoot? The first step in what looks set to be an extremely exciting journey for Cher.

Sarah Harding goes Gothic!

Well, Miss Harding, I certainly did not expect this! Only a week or so after everyone's favourite girl-band blonde stunned us by going brunette, Sarah Harding has now gone one step further with a stunning gothic, black look for a series of HTC adverts. I've always had a soft spot for Sarah but she looks absolutely amazing here - This kind of edginess suits her so well, it's slick, modern and very, very sexy.

More pictures like this please Sarah!
