In the world of Dragonette, all is bright and colourful and snazzy - even in the sterile scientific conditions of a bleached-out laboratory. But this, being Dragonette, is the kind of quirked-up place where random rabbits and people in cages are a daily occurrence, where the walls practically fizz with the same jerky eclecticism that powers Let It Go itself. All that saturated yellow? That's what happens to you when you swallow a whole bag of flying saucer sweets in less than five minutes. Or if you listen to Let It Go on repeat all day long. In both cases, we can attest it's a pretty good feeling.

As we established last week, Dragonette's new single Let It Go is one of the best synth-pop tracks doing the rounds at the moment - and for those seeking to up its electro-factor a bit, you're in luck. The Laidback Luke mix is a bit of a revelation, positioning Martina's vocal amidst a rumbling, grinding onslaught of riffs that positively flip out of the speakers with ecstatic glitchiness. There's a bit, about two and a half minutes into the mix, where everything properly 'goes off' and it's like the song's been tossed into a whirlpool of production effects and electronic tomfoolery, and through sheer, blinding chance has emerged as something of insanely danceable proportons. Or maybe that's just Laidback Luke's considerable talents coming up trumps again - either way, we're fans.

Dragonette - Let It Go

Since Dragonette featured on Martin Solveig smash Hello, there's been the overarching sense that now, on their upcoming third album, they'll finally be able to achieve the proper mainstream success they've so blatantly been deserving of since they kicked things off with 2007's Galore.

We pop fans have known about them for ages, but as far as 'Hi, we're Dragonette!' introductory type tracks go, new single Let It Go is spot on. It leaps from fuzzy synth lines to whipcrack beats with all the enthusiasm and carefree exuberance that powered the Solveig collab and is peppered with just the right amount of quirkiness to keep the casual listener fascinated. It's that radio record that screams with the potential to skyrocket the group into previously uncharted levels of adoration - a gateway into a new summer of love where Let It Go blares from every speaker and car stereo.

In a post-Cinderella's Eyes world, Let It Go is a frothy, perked-up gem to compliment the carefully collated iPod playlist of any true pop aficionado.

Today we have the pleasure of bringing you the video from the Girls Aloud star's latest single, and we think you'll agree it's every bit as wonderful and cute as Beat Of My Drum was.

Where Nicola's previous single was the spark and fire of a solo career bursting into life, Lucky Day takes that sound and allows it to blossom and grow into a fully fledged thing of beauty that really is the epitome of everything Girls Aloud fans have always loved about Nicola.

The video was directed by Stephen Agnew (he's previously worked with The Vaccines and White Lies) and sees Nicola taking a sunny stroll through New York's East Village.

With the help of some nifty little visual effects, Nicola paints a veritable rainbow of colour through the streets, stamping down that unique, lovely, effortlessly charming personality that is just so 'her'.

Co-written by Canadian electro-poppers Dragonette, the track definitely bears the hallmarks of their influence too - judging by the recent success of Martin Solveig's Hello, which featured Dragonette leading lady Martina, Lucky Day looks primed to follow in its footsteps to the upper reaches of the charts.

Snappy, feisty, Lucky Day is the song not only Nicola fans always wanted from her, but it feels, without a doubt, like the kind of music Nicola always wanted to make too. Cinderella's Eyes is her project, her life and soul, and it's already shaping up to be one of the best pop albums of the year.
