Far East Movement feat. Justin Bieber - Live My Life

I never thought I'd be about to express this much love over a product stemming from either Justin Bieber or the Far East Movement, but the truth is, their euro-dance rave-up Live My Life is bloody incredible. As an all out pop smash, it touts a chorus that not only actually makes Bieber's vocals vaguely bearable to listen to, but wraps them around an uplifting club melody of chart shattering proportions. And even the rent-a-rapper feel of the FEM verses are helped by a generous dose of groove-inducing mechanistic bass-licks. As an entity, Live Me Life is sort of like J Lo's On The Floor re-incarnated into the body of a teenage lad, a unadulterated, shot-fuelled locomotive of a thing, powering on through the club door with one mission in sight; to have an insanely enjoyable night out on the tiles. And Live My Life is all that, and more.

Before you ask... No, The Saturdays new single is not a cover of Duran Duran’s 80s classic Notorious. What it is though is one hell of a classy piece of dance-pop. With auto-tuned vocal samples and glitchy synths, it's bigger, bolder, braver than anything on their first three albums. This is the girls full on and in your face, upping their game and wearing the look with effortless chic.

Half the infectious beats of Far East Movement’s Like A G6, half epic-euro dance anthem in the vein of J Lo’s On The Floor, Notorious is a club banger through and through. With a resounding chorus of ‘I’m an outlaw, I’m the big boss, I’m a ganster on the dancefloor’, the track is bursting with confidence and swagger. There’s no room for second best here, only the refined super-glamour and highest grade of pop music that The Saturdays have made their own.

In the track’s video we see the foxy five-some taking a high speed elevator down from a futuristic office block straight to a club. This track is all about breaking free from the humdrum of working life and letting loose, unleashing that ‘outlaw’ in all of us.

Armed with towering stilettos, lip gloss and some suitably hot outfits, The Saturdays are the girls who can accomplish anything. December sees them stepping up to the big time, heading out on an arena tour across the UK. And from there, with tracks as good as Notorious, anything is possible really...

‘Closer, baby look in my eyes, do you recognise me?’ they sing, all sultryness and untamed passion. For The Saturdays, the whole world is their dancefloor, and they are there at the very heart of it – as for the rest of us; well, we’re hooked.

Imagine my joy to see Amazon have a clip of the new Saturdays single, Notorious, up on their website here! It's hard to judge the track fully on just a 30 second clip, but from what we do have, it all sounds very dancey and hip; definitely tacking lots of influence from the kinds of tracks that are big in the clubs at the moment. We've already seen that influence work its way through to stuff like Britney's recent singles and Notorious very much channels the same dancefloor energy, coupled with the rubbery synth bounce of Far East Movement's Like A G6. Tantalisingly, the 30 second clip drops off just before the chorus of the song - which going by the sneak peaks we've had in the girls' flip vids, is properly amazing!

And if that wasn't all, Amazon also have the cover art for the single release, which ties in very nicely with the dance vibe of the whole thing. The Saturdays girls are partying away, looking very glam and shiny as lots of laser and coloured lights and things go off behind them. Very vibrant to say the least!

Their logo has had a few tweaks - don't worry, the amazing slanted 'A' is still there, but it's all been given a big, chrome overhaul. It's big, it's bold, and dare I say it, perhaps a touch American looking? If the Saturdays are looking to make the move over to America this year, this could very well be the track to do it for them.
