Diana Vickers announces new live dates

She's been away for a while, but based on the sublimely good Music To Make Boys Cry, the return of Diana Vickers will be worth every minute of the wait.

Can't wait for her album? Diana will be performing at a number of exclusive live dates in February - not only will you get to hear a taste of her new record, but there'll be all the old faves like Once and The Boy Who Murdered Love in there too.

Speaking of the dates, Diana said:

'I am so excited for these shows - playing live is what it's always been about for me. This new album means so much more to me than anything I've done before, so I just cant wait for my fans to hear the music live. I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve for the show. Kiss of a Bullet is every bit the pop gem its predecessor is, but while Music To Make The Boys Cry went for a cheery 80s inspired carefree retro-pop sound, Kiss of a Bullet boasts far more of a contemporary sheen.

Diana's most 'mature' track to date, it sees her affecting her vocals with a sultry new sensuality; layering them over a sticky, slick backdrop of bassy R&B beats. It's almost Britney-esque, which totally makes it all kinds of brilliant.

Diana Vickers - Music To Make The Boys Cry

Us keen pop fans always knew Diana Vickers had it in her. Once and The Boy Who Murdered Love showed an incredible glimpse at the kind of artist that in time Diana could truly become, the kind of artist we could have only dreamed of when she was performing every week on the X Factor.

The first track to be taken from her new album, Music To Make The Boys Cry is a gorgeous synth-pop delicacy of a thing - all twinkling 80s synthesizers like a crossover between Yazoo and early Madonna. Those that heard Diana's brilliant cover of Snow Patrol's Just Say Yes will have an inkling of the kind of effervescent shiny joy she's conjured up here - it's happy, feel-good pop in the very best of senses.

The track was co-written by Simen Says of Norwegian group Donkeyboy (them of Joe McElderry Ambitions fame).

'Some girls wanna dance in the spotlight, some girls just kiss and tell, some girls just want a movie moment waiting by the wishing well' sings Diana in the track's chorus - I mean, is there anything quite as unashamedly, brilliantly 'POP' as that? We adore this already.
