Cheryl Cole and David Guetta to work together?

With all the recent media frenzy about Girls Aloud getting back together in 2012 (possibly for the Olympics), it's easy to forget that this time last year the lovely Cheryl Cole was gearing up to release her second solo album.

The possibility still remains that before any GA reunion comes about she may quite reasonably make it a hat-trick by releasing a third solo record - leading to the question, who would she work with?

Will.I.Am's involvement seems a given. His stamp was all over Cheryl's last two albums and going by their intense friendship, it seems only natural that he'd remain at the helm for a third solo effort. But today a number of news sources suggest that Will might rope in pal David Guetta too.

This is rather exciting. There are so many Guetta-produced tracks in the charts these days many would be inclined to say his sound has become completely ubiquitous. But looking back to the beginnings of his 'Imperial Phase', 2009's brilliant Sexy Chick, you begin to get the idea of just how potentially amazing a Cheryl/Guetta collab could be.

Back then, you couldn't enter a club without hearing Sexy Chick at least twice in one night. It's success was immense, in many ways ushering in an era of increasingly dance-influenced urban tracks.

It's a sound Cheryl herself is no stranger to - Messy Little Raindrops was notably more dance orientated than her debut. Yeah Yeah and Waiting, praised by many fans as two of the strongest tracks from the album, were full on dance stormers, and it's easy to see how Guetta's involvement could further Cheryl's music down this avenue.

As for when or if said collab will ever actually materialise, we'll have to wait... But it bodes very well indeed.

Nadine Coyle - Put Your Hands Up

February 21st sees the release of Nadine Coyle's seconds solo single Put Your Hands Up, a song many fans latched onto as one of her albums definite highlights. Whereas the title track and lead single saw Nadine tackling those rock vibes, Put Your Hands Up is an intriguing blend of R&B and dance - resulting in a song that you could almost imagine fitting just as easily on Cheryl's Messy Little Raindrops. With a sexy, sultry chorus, some cool little brass sections and a floaty, ambient instrumental section that sounds like it could have come straight out of some Ibiza trance club, this track really does have it all.

It's well worth checking out the Dave Aude mix of the track too which transforms an already dancey song into an all-out club banger. Here, any vestiges of 'adult-contemporary' Nadine are stripped away and replaced by an empowered dancefloor diva (a side of the star I know many feel is her best). It's mixes like these that show just how vesatile her voice actually is, soaring above the thumping beats and grinding synth basslines. You get the feeling that coming from some anonymous dance outfit, the likes of Radio 1 would be all over a club anthem like this, but ah well... Only time will tell if the next stage of the Nadine/Tesco is a success, but with tracks as good as Put Your Hands Up, it more than deserves to be.

Cheryl Cole - Everyone (featuring Dizzee Rascal)

We're very excited to hear that Everyone, featuring Dizzee Rascal, is going to be the third single from Cheryl's Messy Little Raindrops album. Let us remember that Dizzee has racked up five (yes, FIVE) Number 1 singles over the past two years, so his addition to Cheryl's single is sure to give it a helpful boost up the charts in the coming months. He's got an affinity for collaborations with the best in British female pop too; his duet version of You've Got The Dirtee Love Florence and The Machine was another smash hit.

Everyone  represents a rather interesting single choice as in many ways it's not the most obvious track on the album. Away from the up-tempo drive of Promise This and the emotive balladry of The Flood, Everyone instead lies somewhere in-between. It's this more subtle edge to it, and the touches of dub-step bassline pulsing under the brilliant 'Happiness is for everyone...' chorus that really make this track stand out for us. It's packed with a really uplifting message to not let anyone stop you in your quest for happiness, to pick yourself up and keep going even when life seems at its most unfair. We just know that there's probably going to be some insanely good remixes of this that will be massive in the clubs too.

Everyone is released on March 21st.

Cheryl Cole - Promise This

“Alouette-ouette-ouette...”  Take the hook from a classic French nursery rhyme and transform it into a dance-pop classic.  It could only be Cheryl Cole.  And that little refrain will be stuck in your head all day. Guaranteed.  And despite Cheryl’s claims in Girls Aloud’s 2008 single Can’t Speak French, she manages to do a pretty good job of it here.  “Déployer les ailes” indeed.

Promise This sees nation’s sweetheart Cheryl doing just that, spreading her wings and building on her already considerable knack at coming up with some of the best pop music out there.  Teaming up again with songwriter Wayne Wilkins who she worked with on last year’s mega-hit Fight For This Love, her new single is all processed beats and a buzzing bassline driving away behind synthetic strings that could have come straight out of a lost 80s New Order floor-filler.  As the chorus floats in, riding on a wave of trippy piano that lends the track vibes of Ellie Goulding, Cheryl sings ‘If I die before I wake,” a line that in hindsight bears startling significance when taken into account with Cheryl’s malaria scare earlier this year.

Yet despite this potentially morbid subject matter, Promise This is brilliantly uplifting – a fitting anthem for a woman who through everything has always remained ambitious, focused and utterly driven on pursuing the career she loves.  The first single from her second album - wonderfully titled Messy Little Raindrops - the song presents a stronger, more confident Cheryl.  The energy and passion in Promise This is plain to see and the song has become another well deserved smash hit for Chezza.
